What is ArborBike?

ArborBike is a bike share program that is owned and operated by Clean Energy Coalition, a non-profit located in downtown Ann Arbor. The program was developed in partnership with the University of Michigan, the City of Ann Arbor, TheRide, and Clean Energy Coalition.

 

 

How does ArborBike work?

ArborBike is a bike share system intended for short trips around town. Members have access to an unlimited number for 60 minute trips while their membership is active. As long as each trip is kept under 60 minutes, no additional fees, outside of the initial membership fee, are incurred.

 

If you wish to ride an ArborBike for longer than 60 minutes with no usage fees, simply return bike to any station and check the bike back out again. Trips over 60 minutes incur usages fees at a rate of $3 per half hour, or portion thereof.

 

 

Who can use ArborBike?

Anyone over the age of 18 with a valid credit card or debit card can become an ArborBike member.

Where is my pass?

If you have purchased a 1-day or 1-month membership, the credit or debit card that you purchased your membership with is your membership card. Use this card at the kiosk to check out a bike.

 

If you have purchased a 1-year membership, your ArborBike card will ship within a week after purchase to the address your ArborBike account it registered to. If you card does not arrive in 1-2 weeks, give us a call (734) 887-6909. To use your membership before your card arrives, use the credit card you used to purchase your membership at the kiosk as your membership card.

 

 

How do I use the built-in lock?

Should you need to leave your bike unattended before checking it back into a station, each ArborBike comes equipped with a bike lock. See the photos below for step-by-step instructions on how to operate the bike lock.

 

 

 

 

Is it legal to ride without a helmet?

Michigan law does not require bicycle riders to wear a helmet, but ArborBike strongly encourages members to wear a helmet whenever riding.
